केरळमध्ये पावसाच्या थैमान घातल्यामुळे आतापर्यंत 324 जणांचा मृत्यू झाला आहे. सध्या केरळमध्ये पूरपरिस्थिती निर्माण झाल्यामुळे राष्ट्रीय आपात्कालीन बचाव दलाच्या सज्ज आहेत. त्यामुळे येथील नागरिकांचे प्राण वाचविण्याचे प्रयत्न सुरु असून अभिनेता जॉन अब्राहम यानेही येथील नागरिकांना मदत करण्याचे आवाहन केले आहे.
पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांनी राज्याचे मुख्यमंत्री पिनारायी विजयन यांच्याशी राज्यातील पूरस्थितीबाबत चर्चा केली आहे. केंद्र सरकार केरळच्या जनतेच्या पाठिशी ठामपणे उभे असून कुठल्याही मदतीसाठी तयार असल्याचे पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदींनी सांगितले आहे.
त्यानंतर सेलिब्रेटींनीही आवाहन करुन मुख्यमंत्री मदत निधीच्या माध्यमातून या पूरग्रस्त नागरिकांना मदत करण्याचे ट्विटरवरुन आवाहन केले आहे.
