Shiv Sena in its internal survey ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections have predicted the party to win 105-115 seats out of the 227 seats if the party contests the election without an alliance with BJP. The survey has also projected BJP to be victorious in 70-80 seats if the party contests independently. The survey was conducted by Sena in last week of December.
The survey also studied the possibility of both the party forming an alliance, in case of an alliance, Sena will be victorious on 80-90 seats while BJP is projected to win 50-60 seats. The survey predicts a loss for Sena in case of an alliance and the coalition will also harm the party’s wish to win the BMC polls single handedly.
The survey predicts Raj Thackeray led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena to be the biggest loser in the upcoming elections and the party is projected to be restricted to single digits. The survey also has predicted Congress party to be victorious on 30-40 seats and Nationalist Congress party to be restricted to single digits.
The upcoming BMC elections is an electoral battle between all the parties to take control of Asia’s richest civic body. Shiv Sena has been controlling BMC for over two decades and the party wants to regain their control in the civic body.
