Mumbai: Dadar station hawkers free after MNS chief Raj Thackeray statement
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has given an ultimatum to the railways to evict all the hawkers from all the stations in the next 15 days or else his party men will take the issue in their hand on the 16th day.
“People in Mumbai have been dying like insects and the officials are busy taking high level meetings. If action is not initiated on the demands then my party men will take things in their hands and the repercussions of it will be the responsibility of the railways,” said Thackeray, addressing a crowd of nearly 5000-7000 people on Thursday evening at Churchgate.
Thackeray along with his family—wife Sharmila, son Amit and daughter Urvashi led a protest march from Metro cinema to the western railway headquarters in Churchgate via Maharshi Karve road to protest against the woefully inadequate amenities of the railways in the city which resulted into a stampede at Elphinstone road station in which 23 people have died.
